An aerial straps intensive working through nearly every tool, drill, and skill in the book. Koz invites you to join a straps crew at Airborne Arts to level up your fundamental theory, strength, and skill for swinging, spinning, and straps c-shaping movements. Spend your days training hard, and your nights playing hard (in the pool, on the rig, or playing actual games). Most days will include some amount of pushing circus skills, like handstands, partner, or trio acro as well to complement all the pulling/hanging during straps. If you don’t like having fun, probably this retreat isn’t for you.
Koz has trained under world class coaches and physical therapists to build a series of progressions and approaches to skills that make straps more accessible to students who aren’t elite level gymnasts. With a degree in neuropsychology from Oberlin, he approaches teaching through the formation of ideal neuromuscular connections and smart strength training to start building ideal pathways as strength progresses.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Aaron Koz (@circkoz) is a traveling movement and circus coach and co-author of The Aerial Spinning Reference Guide. He completed his undergrad in neuropsych, and offers an introductory aerial straps teacher training.
Moving from Washington, D.C. to NYC, he started at Circus Warehouse’s intensive program, and has studied under elite coaches around the world. He draws from his background in neuroscience to augment his work as a coach and personal trainer and collaborates heavily with physical therapists to structure his teaching offerings and progressions. Koz has performed and taught internationally in places like Ireland (Irish Aerial Dance Festival), Montreal, and Saudi Arabia. Aaron has worked as a Physical Therapy Technician for ACRO Physical Therapy with Angie Prescott, DPT, CSCS (co-author of The Aerial Spinning Reference Guide), and regularly offers workshops (in 27 states, and counting!) and regular classes during teaching residencies.

ACCOMODATIONS AND STUDIO
You will get picked up from the SJO airport the first day at the time we determine, and dropped off there the last day, for a door to door feel.
We will drive in shuttles down the pacific coastline towards Dominical where we can stop at the beach before reaching our destination, Airborne Arts! Airborne Arts is up the hill in a cooler setting, which overlooks the Diamante falls. It boasts one of the best aerial studios in Costa Rica, as well as a flying trapeze rig in a lush jungle setting with an incredible view.
We will train daily, have three meals a day prepared for us, and then take a few excursions to the beach for sunsets, Dominical for some good times and eating out, and the gorgeous Nauyaca Falls for some intense hiking and cooling waters.
WHATS THE SCHEDULE LIKE?
Airfare is not included.
You will fly into SJO by 10am on March 7, 2020. We will scoop you up from the airport and bring you all the way to Airborne Arts!
You will be returned to the airport on March 14, please get airfare for after 4pm.
If this doesn’t align with flights, I suggest you stay overnight: (in fact this makes travel days more restful)

-Stay next to SJO with a free shuttle ride for about $85/ room.
If you have questions, feel free to contact Melissa at 404-402-5704
HOW DO I GET THERE?
The theme is work hard, play hard, but it’s also a beautiful, restful setting compared to most of our daily lives. You can lounge poolside, trade massages, or opt into flying trapeze classes. Aaron Koz is a fun loving teacher who uses games and acro skills to cross train with his aerial teaching for a well rounded, hilariuosly fun time. Be sure to ask about chocolate tacos!
